With Department of Higher Education (DHE) opening link for centralised online counselling, the much-awaited process for admissions in traditional courses offered by private and government colleges began on Wednesday.
“The DHE has declared the counselling schedule for undergraduate and postgraduate courses,” Indore division additional director (higher education) Dr KN Chaturvedi said. As per schedule, the admission process would be held in four rounds. First three rounds would be of online counselling and the last round would be college level counselling.
The registration for the first round for UG courses began on Wednesday whereas the registration link for PG courses would open on June 1. Chaturvedi said the registrations for UG courses would continue till June 9 whereas for PG courses would see students registering for the first round till June 14. “Side by side, document verification will go on,” Chaturvedi remarked.
Generally, the registration process starts by mid-May but this year the process got delayed for unspecified reasons. The DHE on May 8 had declared admission guidelines but it refrained from releasing counselling schedule because MP board class XII results had not been announced by then. The results were declared a fortnight ago after which the university declared the counselling schedule.
Students can select 9 colleges priority wise
In online registration form, students would be given choice to select nine colleges of their choice priority wise. On the basis of their marks in qualifying exams, the students would be granted admissions. The students who do not get admission in the first counselling can apply for second round of counselling. If he failed to get admission even in second counselling, he would be provided two more chances to secure seat – third counselling and college level counselling.
Fees can be paid online
This year, the DHE has allowed students to pay course fee in online mode as well. The online fee submission facility has been provided following the demand of students who complain about long queues at college counters.
City get 6 more minority colleges
Six more local colleges got permission to admit students in offline mode as they provided documents supporting continuation of their minority institute status to DHE on Wednesday. The new addition took the number of local minority colleges to 41.
The minority institute status is issued every year by tribal welfare department to select colleges. While the DHE fills up seats in regular colleges through centralised online admission counselling, minority colleges are allowed to admit students on their own. This year, the DHE allowed 88 minority colleges to admit students in offline mode. Highest number of minority colleges, to be precise 41, is in Indore followed by 12 in Bhopal.
The leading minority colleges of the city include Gujarati College, Indore Christian College, Islamia Karimia College, Arihant College, Indore Institute of Law, Alexia College, ISBA College, Vishisht School of Management, AISECT College, Akshay Academy, Kothari College.
