The functionaries thus appointed should have a good understanding of child psychology, child care and child development.
Considering the nature of work entrusted under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Prescribed Rule to the staff caring for juveniles/children in the institutions, it is necessary that such staff who are recruited should be trained, in keeping with their statutory responsibilities and specific job requirements. Only such persons trained in the juvenile justice system and having the knowledge of care and protection of children should be recruited for the posts of Superintendent/Officer-in-Charge, Probation Officer/Case Worker/Child Welfare Officer of these institutions. It is proposed that following eligibility criteria shall be strictly followed while making recruitment of functionaries in Homes.
NOTE: For institutions being run for girls, the posts of Superintendent, Counsellor, House Mother, Paramedical Staff and Helper should be exclusively for female candidates.
